Have you ever found yourself in a situation where everyone has a different story about what happened? Maybe you've been accused of something you didn't do. Or you wished you had a way of proving something that you witnessed. That's where a spy pen camera comes in handy. These devices are designed to help you discretely record footage to protect yourself. They are also great for secret shopping, domestic disputes, and undercover work.
WHAT IS A SPY PEN?
A spy camera pen can come in many styles, sizes, and more. But if you're looking for something that will help you get the most versatility, you want one with a photo mode, video recording, and easy recording features.
Think about the last time your boss said something to you and then changed their mind. And then they probably said you didn't hear them right the first time, right? What if you could pull out your spy pen and reveal the video mode that captured everything?
Or maybe you want to be able to record your thoughts as you have them while you're out. Or perhaps you need to record some of your business meetings. The possibilities are endless when it comes to spy pen cameras.
You can even upload your videos and other content via a USB port on a Windows or Mac computer to ensure you always have access to your recordings. The built-in 32GB flash memory allows the device to store up to 4 hours of high-definition video and audio at 2160P.
GETTING STARTED WITH THE 4K ULTRA SPY PEN
Are you ready to start using your new spy pen camera? Well, you're in luck because it's super simple once you get the hang of everything.
CHARGING THE SPY PEN
First up, you'll need to charge your pen camera. It might have a small charge when it first arrives, but you don't want to risk it dying on you before you're able to record anything or while you're in the middle of your recording time.
Charging is simple because you only need a USB port to plug it in. You unscrew the back of the pen and find the USB port. Let it charge for about three hours, and you're ready to go. You'll know when the blinking light turns to a solid blue light.
32GB INTERNAL FLASH MEMORY
You're ready to start recording once your spy camera pen is charged. But of course, you'll need something to save the information while recording video, which is where a 32GB built-in flash memory makes sense.
The 32GB memory gives you plenty of space to store whatever you see and hear and do it quickly and easily. Internal memory also makes your videos more secure since swapping an SD card out is unnecessary.
TURN ON THE SPY PEN
Now you need to turn on your camera pen. And, of course, you can choose different settings for your spy cameras, but video footage is generally an excellent way to go. We'll talk about how to record your video in a moment, but first, turn on your device.
To turn on the pen, you need to push the on/off button on the top of the pen.
Now, it's time for video mode, and you're looking to get your spy camera to take a video when you need it to, which means you don't want to attract attention while doing it. But you still want quality.
Recording video requires:
- Push the on/off button for up to 3 seconds.
- A blue light will turn on, followed by a blinking green light.
- The green light will turn off, and you will know that recording has begun.
This is used for a video recording with audio. You will then be able to capture the specific types of video recording you want whenever you need it, and people won't even know that you have a spy pen camera.
ENDING A RECORDING
When you want to stop recording all you need to do is press and hold the same button you used to start recording. It's really that simple.
You press and hold the on/off button for approximately five seconds and you'll see a green light blink four times. This will let you know that you have chosen to stop recording. And the device will power off.
TAKING A PHOTO
Ready to take a photo? It's actually very easy to do with this spy pen camera, which is great for those times when you don't have a conversation to record, but you do want to make sure you can keep track of some important information.
First, put the device in standby mode. This means you press and hold the on/off button until you get a solid blue light. Then, release the button and the light will turn green and blue again. This lets you know you are in standby mode. Then, you will follow the steps below.
Double-click the on/off button.
Light will alternate between blue and green.
Click the on/off button to take photos.
ACCESSING YOUR RECORDINGS
Once you've created your recordings you need a way that you can actually access them, right? Well, that's actually simple with a USB cable.
You can plug your device directly into your computer to access the files that you have stored. All you have to do is plug it directly into the device and then select the option to view your files. From there, you can choose to erase files, or view them.
ERASING THE INTERNAL MEMORY
Erasing the memory is quite simple when you are connected to a computer. You can access the files and recordings you have created on your camera pen. Then you choose which ones you want to remove. You have to highlight them with your mouse and select 'delete' to get rid of them.
You can also move files while you're accessing them on a computer. This will let you save them more permanently than on your spy pen camera's memory. Downloading files regularly to your computer is best as it fills up the memory of the device, and once full, it will be unable to make new recordings until the videos have been deleted.
PRO TIPS FROM SPYCENTRE SECURITY
So, what else should you know about your spy pen before you get started using it? Well, there are some general tips and things to keep in mind.
DON'T SPILL WATER ON IT OR LEAVE IT OUTSIDE
This might seem obvious, but it's imperative that your pen camera does not get wet. If it does, it may stop recording or may damage the memory. You could also short out the system or damage your other devices if the spy pen is connected to a computer. The pen is not meant to be used outdoors. It's not weather resistant to dust and does not have night vision or battery life for such endeavors. Check out our outdoor WIFI security camera if you need something for outdoor recording.
KEEP THE INK REFILLED
This pen camera is also an actual pen, which means you should always keep the ink filled. That way, if you need to hide what you're doing by writing with your spy pen camera, you can do so. Also, if someone picks it up and tries to write with it, you can trust it will work. After all, you don't want someone to throw out your spy pen because they think it's a dead pen.
USING IT FOR HARRASSMENT CASES
Your spy pen camera is excellent for many things, but, of course, the most important one is recording things when no one realizes it. You can record conversations, take pictures of incriminating documents, and much more. If you're in the midst of a harassment case (or you're planning to file one), the video mode or even audio mode of this camera can help government agencies to see what's going on and could get you a more favorable outcome.
USING IT FOR SECRET SHOPPING
Spy cameras are a great way to go if you like doing secret shopping. You can wear them to record everything in a shop, so you don't have to remember everything yourself. That makes it much easier to write reports when you're done.
Also, the camera features can make it easy to take pictures of things like receipts, items, and much more.
USING IT WITH AN IRATE CUSTOMER
Have you ever had to deal with someone who was just angry? Or someone rude, aggressive, or unruly? Maybe you weren't quite sure how the experience would turn out, and being able to record things would have made it a whole lot better.
With a spy pen, you can record these interactions to ensure you and anyone you're with are protected if a complaint arises later. For customer-facing roles, a spy pen can be cheap insurance.
